Wellies have become the latest must-have fashion item as the UK remains under the grip of icy weather.

While ballet pumps give little defence against slipping and fleece-lined boots can often let the damp in, wellies are proving to be a hit as they provide all the protection your feet need against the chill.

Hunter has announced that its wellies have been flying off the shelves at a record pace recently, as demand surges among women desperate to keep their feet dry.

But it is not just the top brands that are making great wellington designs, as high street stores create affordable options.

The Sun has picked out a range of inexpensive boots, including a pair of heart patterned boots from Barratts and a leopard print pair by Marisota.
