Tony Gordon in prison break on Coronation Street

Carla Connor had better look out on Coronation Street, as Tony Gordon is set to escape from prison and head back to the cobbles.

In dramatic scenes that will have fans of the soap on the edge of their seats, Tony will fake a heart attack in prison and be taken to hospital by ambulance.

But this is all part of a plan to escape, with a balaclava-wearing motorcyclist holding up the vehicle with a gun and demanding Tony's release.

The pair then flee the scene together on the back of the bike, leaving fans to wonder who his mystery helper is and why they would want him out of prison.

Since the character has already murdered Liam Connor and attempted to drown Roy Cropper by pushing him in the canal, viewers will undoubtedly be excited to see what terrible plans he has in store for his former love Carla.

Tony is set to be the second of Corrie's characters that are currently behind bars that are due to return to our screens, as Tracy Barlow will also be back again to attend Blanche's funeral.
