Robbie Williams pops the question

Former Take That hunk Robbie Williams has proposed to his girlfriend live on air during an interview with an Australian radio station, it has been reported.

The 35-year-old singer will no doubt be breaking plenty of hearts by committing his love to his partner Ayda Field - who accepted his proposal instantly - on the Kyle and Jackie O breakfast show.

Williams was in Sydney to promote his latest album when he appeared on the 2DayFM programme, but no one expected him to share such a private moment with listeners.

Presenter Jackie O told Williams that the show had a history of proposals and asked him if he had anything to announce.

To the shock of many listeners, Robbie turned to Field and said: "Ayda Field, I love you so much. Do you mind being my betrothed for the end of time?"

Williams has sold more than 48 million albums and he will be looking to add more to that tally with his latest record, Reality Killed The Radio Star.
