Miley Cyrus gets a puppy named Mate

Miley Cyrus seems to be trying to copy some of the other celebrities in Hollywood after she was spotted carrying her new pet puppy around with her.

Except, rather than choosing a tiny pooch, favoured by the likes of Paris Hilton, the young star has instead gone for a huge white German Shepherd puppy.

The Hannah Montana actress should make the most of being able to carry her adorable new pet while she can, as the dogs can weigh up to nine stone when fully grown.

But for now, Miley looked happy strolling with her new dog, which she has named Mate, as her boyfriend, the Australia actor Liam Hemsworth, says the word so often.

The newest addition to the Cyrus family will be a welcome playmate for Miley's other dog, a Maltipoo named Sophie.

Here's hoping that the pup fares better than Katy Perry's cat. The singer recently decided to give her feline friend, named Kitty Purry, a makeover to make it look like a poodle.
