Makeup predictions for 2010
Makeup expert and writer Zara Rabinowicz has taken a peek at the trends that are set to be big next year - and gives the low-down on the best beauty styles.
In 2010, makeup is set to be all about looking strong. Dramatic styles are set to take hold, as more definition is given to the eyes with heavy liner. False eyelashes are here to stay and will be worn both day and night, to give a striking appearance to your peepers, whatever the time of day.
With the rise of the 1980s look in clothes, beauty is set to follow suit, with power makeup joining shoulder pads and stiletto heels. This look can be achieved, according to Zara, with "dark eyes and smouldering lips".
To get the perfect lips in 2010, it is time to ditch the lipgloss, as lipstick will be big news again.
"Lipstick will be used, but sparingly, as the new lip will be slightly bitten rather than coloured in," Zara advises.
Splashing out on some new cosmetics in the new year could be a good plan if your makeup bag is starting to look a bit dated. Recent research by Mintel has shown that only 28 per cent of women admit to throwing out their products if they change colour or begin to smell.
