Katy Perry's cat gets a very public haircut

Katy Perry has given her cat a bizarre new haircut and shown off the results in a picture released on Twitter.

Her feline friend, which is called Kitty Purry, was left looking a bit like a poodle, with tufts of hair around her feet, head and tail, but shaved close everywhere else.

The picture was uploaded to the I Kissed a Girl singer's Twitter account, with a caption reading: "Oh no my poor pussy, what have I done?".

It looks as though the cat will be trying to grow this fashion mistake out for months and it certainly looks displeased in the photo - gazing forlornly out of a window.

Perry, who recently announced her engagement to British comedian Russell Brand, was rumoured to be pregnant as a result of a series of cryptic Tweets, but the news was officially denied this week.

The American songstress has recently been revealed as the new face of Proactiv spot cream, with the advertising gig set to net her about $4 million.
