Joe McElderry has the X Factor
The contestants sang their hearts out, the viewers cast votes in their millions - and teenager Joe McElderry has been crowned as this year's X Factor winner. Joe looked stunned that he had won the contest over his rival Olly Murs. But he soon looked delighted with his prize, especially when host Dermot O'Leary handed him a copy of his new single, a cover of the Miley Cyrus hit 'The Climb'.
The student received over 60 per cent of the viewer's votes, with an incredible ten million people picking up the phone.
His mentor Cheryl Cole is also over the moon with his win. It's the second year Joe's fellow Geordie has mentored an act to the top spot, with Alexander Burke taking first place over boyband JLS in last year's final.
Hopefully, his win will give Joe a little more success with the ladies than JLS have had. Last week, the boys told Heat that they have found it difficult to find a girl they can trust since they found fame.
