Jedward voted off of the X Factor

The Irish twins John and Edward have been voted off of the X Factor after singing Boyzone's No Matter What.

The 18-year-olds lost out to Olly Murs, whose rendition of Wonderful Tonight by Eric Clapton carried him through to the next round of the show.

Jedward surprised many people by singing the Boyzone hit without any gimmicks or routines, but the idea did not pay off since all of the judges apart from Louis Walsh voted to send them out.

Walsh, who was their mentor on the show, was full of praise for the young lads and said it made him feel young again to work with them.

One of the twins said: "It's been the greatest experience of my life. We're here every single weekend on live television having the greatest time of our life."

Before Jedward, the previous act to be voted off was Jamie Archer and there are now five contestants left on the show.
