EastEnders stars banned from on-screen slaps

Actors working on EastEnders have been told they are no longer allowed to give their co-stars one of the shows famous slaps after a heated argument.

For many years, fans of the show have seen characters like Peggy Mitchell give a dramatic slap on the face to the people that they have been arguing with.

But bosses at the programme now worry that they could do one another some harm if they carry on lashing out and have told the stars to only do fake slaps instead.

John Partridge, who plays Christian Clark in the soap, spoke on This Morning of how Preeya Kalidas, who plays Amira Shah, was supposed to slap him at the end of one scene, but before the cameras started rolling they were told that she was not allowed to hit him anymore.

One dramatic scene that EastEnders has recently filmed saw Lucy Beale being attacked in the park by hoodies, only for it to turn out to be Leon Small and Billie Jackson.
