Darius wins the Popstar to Operastar crown

Darius Campbell was named the winner of Popstar to Operastar in the dramatic final to the show.

It was third time lucky for the Scot, who has previously taken part in reality talent contests Popstars and Pop Idol, only to lose out in both.

He donned a military style jacket to give a performance of Non Piu Andrai from the Marriage of Figaro by Mozart, flanked by four dancers in red army coats.

This was an emotional victory of Darius, as both the show's presenter Myleene Klass and his fellow contestant Kym Marsh had beaten him to be picked as members of the band Hear'Say during Popstars.

During the programme, Darius, who has recently changed his surname from Danesh to his mum's maiden name Campbell in order to reflect his Scottish heritage, performed a duet with curly-haired judge Rolando Villazon.

Bernie Nolan also sang a powerful duet with Katherine Jenkins wearing a stunning glittering black dress, before all the four singers appeared on the stage together for a show-stopping rendition of Brindisi by Verdi from the opera La Traviata.
