Cheryl Cole sports futuristic X Factor dress

She is usually considered to be something of a fashion icon, but Cheryl Cole made a bit of a faux pas with the dress she wore on the X Factor at the weekend.

The Geordie singer donned a designer frock by up and coming star David Koma.

Despite the fact it cost £1,500, the outfit came under a lot of criticism due to the unusual metal detailing on the front.

The fitted black dress featured a snaking silver design made of silver tubing, which was described as looking like rubbish bin lids or car hubcaps by some after the show.

Cheryl, who is often praised for her fashion sense, teamed the futuristic dress with a pair of thigh-high black boots and large, chunky hoop earrings.

This week, Rachel Adedeji became the next person to be voted out of the X Factor after finding herself in the bottom two for the third time, along with Welsh singer Lloyd Daniels.
