Beyonce scoops six awards at the Grammys

Beyonce Knowles was the queen on the Grammys after she picked up a record-breaking six awards at this year's ceremony.

It is the highest number of prizes ever to be won by a female singer at the American music awards, despite not winning four of the ten prizes she was nominated for.

But she was not too disappointed on missing out on one of the gongs as it will still find its way onto her mantelpiece, as it was won by her husband Jay-Z.

The Single Ladies singer also lost out on the prize for best album, which was won by country singer Taylor Swift, who became the youngest ever performer to scoop the gong.

Lady Gaga managed to give everyone something to talk about after she performed with pop music veteran Elton John, with the pair playing pianos which had been joined together and had bizarre arms and hands emerging from the top.

The Bad Romance singer had several wacky costume changes, as she arrived on the red carpet in a lilac dress with a massive hooped skirt and later changed into a silver mini-dress with a huge spiked headpiece.
